The Gothic parish church dedicated to St. John the Baptist stands at the centre of the village of St. Johann, 625 metres above sea level.
The patron saint of the church gave the village its name, and the much better-known name "Saiga Hans", which is commonly used in the vernacular, also originated from the dialectal "Sailiga (blessed) Hans". However, the Saiga Hans people themselves explain their name differently. They believe that "Saiga Hans" refers to the "Hans" (St John) with the "Söchter" (jokingly "Seicher").Please get in touch for more information.
