The harmony of jobs, developed infrastructure and an intact environment have made Taufkirchen an der Pram a popular residential community.
The Pramtal municipality covers an area of 29.17 square kilometres. The municipal area consists of six cadastral municipalities. Around 2900 people live in the 37 villages. The village centre lies at an altitude of 336 metres above sea level.
The place name Taufkirchen an der Pram was first mentioned in the "Passau Traditions" in the middle of the 12th century. The "political municipality" in its current form only emerged from the parish in 1848 as a result of the revolution.
There has been a municipal partnership with the Wachau market town of Spitz since 2006.
In the Bilger-Breustedt school centre, which was opened in 2009, around 500 pupils can be taught in the primary, secondary and music school. The complex also houses the Taufkirchen Museum. The glass window "Young men from the furnace" by Margret Bilger is also integrated into the building. A triple gymnasium is available for large sporting events.
The neighbouring kindergarten looks after around 90 children in five groups.
Several football pitches, tennis courts, asphalt tracks, a beach volleyball court, fun court and a golf course are available for sporting activities. There are four playgrounds in the villages for the little ones.
Five hiking trails of varying lengths lead through the beautiful landscape of the Pramtal municipality.
