Hagenberg Castle, which almost was let gone to rack and ruin, has been rehabilitated into a Center of Science, Administration and Culture.
The local commune purchased the Hagenberg Castle with financial support by the Upper Austrian government in 1985 to save it from dilapidation and possible demolition. The remains of the Castle were restored with new complexes added. In 1988 the Riepl/Moser architectural team received the Architecture Award of the Province of Upper Austria for its exemplary work.
