The KOMETOR is a sculpture in Peuerbach Castle Park. The name is a combination of comet and gate, a gateway to the world of stars.
The shape of the cometor - the dodecahedron (a body of 12 pentagons) was regarded in ancient times as the embodiment of the universe. The "compass needle" rising 36 metres into the sky is a reminder of the deviation of the Earth's geographic north pole from its magnetic north pole, which was discovered by the scholar Georg von Peuerbach. A rippling watercourse with its play of colours forms the "foot" of the sculpture. The castle park with its winding paths and seating invites you to linger.
