Coal was mined in the market town of Wolfsegg am Hausruck until 1967. The 210-year history of Hausruck mining came to an end on 24 May 1995. The last coal mine was in Schmitzberg, in the municipality of Ampflwang. The tradition of coal mining is kept alive in the market town of Wolfsegg by the miners' association. The Barbara show tunnel near the sports ground, built in 1996, is a reminder of this important time.
