Municipal library and history archive in the Weitersfelden community centre
The Weitersfelden municipal library and the history archive are located in the new multifunctional office building of the market town of Weitersfelden, which was opened in July 2009. The aim of our library is: "Something for every taste. We endeavour to offer the widest and most varied range of media possible." The municipal library currently has around 4,000 media such as children's and young adult literature, fine literature (novels), humanities, natural sciences, non-fiction, audio books, games, DVDs, ... Head of the library is community chronicler Konsulent OSR Dir. Ludwig Riepl. The history archive is also housed in the municipal library. The municipal chronicle is stored in a fireproof cabinet. This work of contemporary history begins with the year 1945 and is supplemented annually by a folder (annual chronicle). Fragments of old original documents are kept in another fireproof cabinet. These documents were saved despite the three market fires. Guild certificates, minutes of the weavers' guild, military honour regulations, apprenticeship certificates and a certificate from the school in Harrachstal are available. Municipal chronicler OSR Dir. Ludwig Riepl discovered the old market archive with the original deed of the market regulations from 1733 of Baron Hoheneck during research work in the provincial archives. The first "Waidersfeldner-Sigl" and the contents of the old "Gmoalada" were found in another three boxes. The provincial archives were handed over to Mayor Franz Xaver Hölzl on permanent loan at the opening of the new community centre, together with all the old documents.Mon: 09:00 to 12:00 and 15:00 to 18:00
