Schönegger Achteln

An elongated plot of land in the municipality of Schönegg on the left bank of the Steinerne Mühl river is referred to as an "eighth", and although the "eighths" of the 2,616 m² plot each had an - initially unknown - owner, no one recognised their ownership. Prof Fritz Winkler, former mayor of Schönegg, with the support of the Leonfeldner district judge, researched the owners, acquired six eighths and transferred them to the municipality of Schönegg by notarial deed. The eighths are a nature reserve and are a species-rich wet meadow wasteland.
