Production of organic goat cheese specialities, organic fruit brandies, organic goat kid meat
The approx. 9ha farm in the Salzachau near Ostermiething, 40km north of Salzburg, was run by Alois and Marianne Reiter from 1983 to 2017. They were members of the "Harvest for Life" association from the very beginning and were enthusiastic about goat breeding and cheese production. By taking over the goat farm, we have fulfilled a long-standing dream. Thanks to the Reiter family's more than 30 years of development work, we can now continue to run the farm in line with their philosophy of "small but mighty", which applies to both the size of the farm and the cheese production.
Our herd consists of 80 dairy goats and 2 bucks of the endangered Gemsbok mountain goat breed as well as a few Saanen goats, the "white sheep" of our herd, so to speak. Our animals enjoy year-round grazing and love to explore their territory every day in search of the best herbs. To supplement and balance the fresh grass, we feed hay and small amounts of concentrated feed. We pay attention to the best quality, which contributes to the good health of the herd and also has a positive effect on the flavour of the cheese and milk. In addition to the organic guidelines, our goats are not dehorned (hornless animals are genetically born this way). Instead, they have sufficient space and alternative options in the loose housing as well as sufficient feeding areas.
