This three-hour high alpine tour takes you through the Ramsaugebirge mountains past places of happiness to the Goiserer Hütte and on to the summit of the Hoher Kalmberg. This is not only impressive because of its shape, the impressive view in particular will leave you breathless.
The managed Goiserer Hütte is situated at 1,592 metres above sea level between the Sonnenwendkogel and the Hohen Kalmberg. It can be reached from Gosau as well as from Bad Goisern. The route described here leads from Bad Goisern via the Trockentannalm.
The high alpine tour to the Goiserer Hütte and the high Kalmberg requires stamina and surefootedness.
From the Parking area Trockentann toboggan run (NOT in the Nordic Centre), follow the markings along the steeply ascending forest road to the Trockentannalm. You hike up in serpentines in increasingly steep terrain, past the "Wallman-Poldl-Rast", a rest hut built by mountain enthusiasts from larch trees. From here you can already see up into the Tote Gebirge and down to Bad Goisern. The route continues through magnificent larch fields past the Dichtlerin, a water source around 15 minutes away from the Goiserer Hütte.
After reaching the first destination, the Goiserer Hütte, and having fortified yourself with food and drink, the route continues up to the summit of the high Kalmberg. The approximately 60-minute path winds its way up through lickers and rocks, past the Kalmooskirche. This interesting rocky hill is known for the secret church services held during the Counter-Reformation. You then reach the summit of the Kalmberg, which is also known as the Indian because of its shape. From here, there is a amazing view over the Goiserertal, Gosau, the Gosaukamm and all the way to the Dachstein. On a clear day, you can even see the Großglockner.
Back at the Goiserer Hütte, choose the descent towards Hochmuth. This approx. 2.5 to 3-hour path leads over the marked "Knie" hilltop to the north in a wide arc into the valley via the village of Steinach to Bad Goisern.
The happy places in the Salzkammergut are divided into three types: cultural and sacred places, legendary places and natural places. The cultural and sacred places are nowadays mostly Christian monuments, where the knowledge of the power of these places has been continuously transferred and used for architectural monuments. One of these special places is the Kalmooskirche on the high Kalmberg.
Saga places don't seem very special at first, only the knowledge of the old stories that belong to these places makes you realise the power and mysticism of these places. This includes, for example, the Schwarzenbachloch along the Tolerance Trail.
With natural places, it is the extraordinary visual landscape experiences and the balanced interplay of the four elements that create a special sense of harmony with and for these places. One of these natural places is the so-called "Indianerkopf", i.e. the summit of the Kalmberg.
The Goiserer Hütte can also be reached from Gosau. The approx. 3-hour hike is a little longer, but also flatter. The hiking trail (no. 880) follows the forest road from the car park in the district of Gosau/Ramsau starting in the direction of Iglmoosalm. You then continue past the Schartenalm to the Goiserer Hütte. You will also experience wonderful impressions and magnificent views on this hike.
