For hikers looking for a remote high alpine pasture, the Hochsteinalm (not managed) is a worthwhile destination in one of the upper and wild romantic parts of the Stodertal valley.
From the parking area at Baumschlagerreith in Hinterstoder walk to the right of the game enclosure along the forest road for about 500m until you reach the sign „Hochsteinalm“. Continue along a small path to get to trail nr. 19. Easy in the beginning but leading into steep serpentines higher up leading into a notch. Turn left passing rock walls and after many turns you will reach the Hochsteinalm alpine pasture. If you continue for another 10 minutes you will reach the Lögerhütte (not managed) at 1.370 m above sea level. For a few years now there is no cattle on this pasture during the summer months.Through the village to the parking Baumschlagerreith end of the valley.
