Panoramic views from the Almtal to the Mühlviertel - to the Salzkammergut to the Bavarian Alps - to the Almsee and Totes Gebirge - to the Dachstein Glacier and in the east to the Kasberg summit and Kremsmauer to the Ennstal Alps.
The special:
There are 10 rest areas on rustic logs along the Almrunde. Described panorama pictures are mounted in areas with the most beautiful views. From around mid-June to mid-September you will meet pasture cattle, who enjoy the alpine summer and ensure green, blooming alpine meadows and the best sowing for the big game (deer and chamois).
The culmination of the Kasbergalm tour is a stop at the Bergasthof Hochberghaus. There are the famous Almpfandl and Almschmankerl from the alpine farmers in a cozy atmosphere.

How to get to Grünau im Almtal:
We recommend that you travel by public transport!
by train: from Wels station with the Almtalbahn (line 153) to Grünau im Almtal;
Numerous connections from Wels station to the main trains on the western railway line (line 101)
by bus: OÖVV bus line 533 Almsee - Grünau - Gmunden
Bus train information
Call Traunstein Taxi Route 60 from Grünau station to the Hochberghaus stop, at least 1 hour in advance at the telephone number 050-422 1691 or order from the otaxi app.
by walking: from the center or the train station of Grünau im Almtal in direction Sportplatz, from there on hiking path 431 over the Irrer Alm up to the Hochberghaus and on to the Kasbergalm circuit!
by car:
Westautobahn A1: Vienna - Voralpenkreuz-A9 - exit Ried / Tr. - Voitsdorf - Pettenbach - Scharnstein - Grünau
Westautobahn A1: Munich - Salzburg - Regau - Gmunden - Scharnstein - Grünau
Inntal Autobahn A8 Passau - Wels - Voralpenkreuz A9 - exit Ried / Tr. - Voitsdorf - Pettenbach - Scharnstein - Grünau
From the center of Grünau, follow Schindlbachstrasse to the junction to mountain road "Bergstrasse Farrenau" to Hochberghaus / Kasberg
The mountain road is open for you from beginning of May til 26th of October!
The road usage fee is € 15.00 per car in coins at the barriers (or to pay directly at the Hochberghaus)
With the Salzkammergut Card and when paying in the Hochberghaus, € 3,00 discount on the road usage fee!
The nearest airports are Linz-Hörsching, 55 km and Salzburg, 80 km

Information about the mountain road Farrenau - the private road to the hiking area Kasberg to the Hochberghaus:
Road use fee Bergstrasse Farrenau € 15 / car
Take a ticket to start up at the barrier system at the machine.
Payment of road use fee:
Before returning, pay for the ticket in the Hochberghaus or at the Grillwald sales car - you will receive a coin for the trip!
OR when leaving the Bergstraße at the automatic barrier machine € 15, - only possible with euro coins (€ 1 / € 2)!
