Short, but very exposed via ferrata, which is less interesting as a stand-alone undertaking due to its brevity. It is recommended to combine it with the original "Leadership via ferrata" on the Predigstuhl, which can be reached via a marked hiking trail afterwards.

Very short and very exposed via ferrata

Route description

From the start, traverse extremely exposed on footholds (C) under overhangs to the left. Then climb vertically to slightly overhanging up the exposed wall (C/D). Cross to the right under slight overhangs (D) and up a steep upswing (D). Through a somewhat earthy gully (C) to the exit.

Access to the via ferrata

From the Rathlucken Hütte via the Höhen- und Sagenweg Bad Goisern first gently ascending, then flat to the Ewige Wand. Follow the impressive path carved into the rocks through a tunnel to the start (height at start: 780 m). The via ferrata starts just before the second tunnel at a small bench and a yellow sign.

Descent from the via ferrata

Keep left at the exit and return to the start via the hiking trail through the Ewige Wand in a short time. Or continue along a marked hiking trail to Leadership via ferrata to the Predigstuhl.

Erbauer: Outdoor Leadership

Klettersteig is very exposed and can be tackled with the help of stepping sticks. Fear of heights and surefootedness are required.

In emergencies, call the mountain rescue service on 140!

  • difficulty acc. to Kurt Schall: difficult (C)
  • Hop off description: From the car park at the Rathlucken Hütte, the route is easy and flat along the Bad Goisern high and legend trail to the wall. This is the starting point of the carved-out hiking trail to the western part of the Ewige Wand, via which you can easily reach the wooded plateau. The entrance to the "Ewige Wand via ferrata" is located in front of the 2nd tunnel of the excavated hiking trail.
  • Hop on description: At the exit, the marked hiking trail leads past in the direction of Predigstuhl, which you descend briefly to the junction of the hiking trail through the Ewige Wand. If you would like to extend the tour, we recommend combining it with the "Leadership via ferrata". To do this, continue up the marked hiking trail until just before the summit of the Predigstuhl (1-1.5 hours). Then follow the descent via the "Obermoos-Steig" for about 15 minutes to the junction of the access path (signpost "Klettersteig") to the "Predigstuhl via ferrata".

Depending on the snow and weather conditions, the via ferrata is accessible from May to October.
