From Mondsee through the Helenental valley to a breathtaking view of the Gaisberg (approx. 1.5 hours) - take snowshoes with you in deep snow!
This wild and romantic winter hike begins at the Steininger flower shop, across from the cemetery car park on the outskirts of Mondsee-Mitte. Along the Zeller Ache - the connection from Irrsee to Mondsee - we follow the course of the road and the signs to Erlachmühle-Helenental. In a company premises we go through the gated entrance and then immediately turn right. This brings us to a forest path on which the romantic part of this hike begins. Next to the rushing river, we follow the path through the forest. Approx. 20 minutes later we reach a bridge. We cross this to the other side of the river, where we leave the forest path after a few meters and come along the meadow to the Erlachmühle. From there we follow the signs / markings in a south-westerly direction along small roads and meadows up to the Gaisberg and to the Leidingerhof panorama inn. This ascent is rewarded with a breathtaking view all over lake Mondsee. Depending on the weather and road conditions, we can return to hiking trail number 8 towards Mondsee or, if the snow conditions are unfavorable, simply walk back along the road.
Snowshoes including sticks can be borrowed free of charge from the Mondsee-Irrsee tourist office.
