Wonderful circular hiking trail in Bad Goisern am Hallstättersee with a walking time of approx. 3-4 hours and lots of panoramic views.

Dedicated to honorary citizen and long-time spa director Karl Pilz

At the suggestion of Karl Rainer, chairman of the Ramsau Trail Improvement Association, the market town of Bad Goisern has signposted a circular hiking trail on existing footpaths (yellow signs). It is named after the deserving former spa director and honorary citizen Karl Pilz. Karl Pilz (1909 - 1993) worked as spa director in Bad Goisern from 1957 - 1974 and made a lasting contribution to the development of tourism through his great commitment.

The best place to park is at Parkplatz Mitte. Cross the B 145 and walk behind the Hofer on the Hofrat-Renner-Weg to Lasern. Continue left for approx. 300 metres down Lasernstraße before turning right onto Hörmannsbergweg.
Follow the signs to the village of Primesberg. You will pass the Vivea Gesundheitshotel and finally reach the Eidenbergerweg behind the hotel  Anzenau.
Now cross the B 145 once more and turn right. Pass the Jodschwefelbad railway station and follow the footpath to Weißenbach. Turn right and walk over the Weißenbach bridge to the start of the brine pipeline path, which leads you to Wildpfad. Below the path is a side arm of the Traun, where wild ducks and swans like to hang out. A short break invites you to watch them. Behind it flows the Traun, which you will encounter again and again.

When you emerge from the Soleweg, which was carved out of the eastern slope of the Hammerberg, the Goiserer Becken opens up before you, which is surrounded to the south-east by the 1976 m Hohen Sarstein. Continue below the Jochwand and you will see the Kalmberge (Hoher Kalmberg 1,833 m), the western boundary of our municipal area. If you let your gaze wander to the left, you will see the Vivea health hotel you passed earlier on the sunny side and above it the imposing Höhenweg through the Ewige Wand.

It continues along the Health Centre Hanuschhof and on to Gasthaus Rassingmühle, an old traditional inn on the River Traun, where you are already close to the market town of Bad Goisern. The path over the Sophienbrücke bridge would take you there. However, the Karl Pilz circular hiking trail leads up via the Maiswald, past the rest hut where several paths converge to the shooting range of the Unterjoch crossbowmen. There you leave the Alpenhotel Dachstein at the top right and walk along the Langfeldweg and the Rastlhochfeld to the Schüttbachbrücke bridge, where you take the road to the Nordic Winter Sports Centre (ski jump, Trockentann toboggan run, cross-country ski trail) or to Goiserer Hütte.

From the small wooded area, you reach the idyllic village of Ramsau via the Ramsaufelder. Walk a little way downhill and then turn left to the Giselawarte, which is named after a daughter of Emperor Franz Josef, the wife of Prince Leopold of Bavaria. Enjoy the wonderful panoramic view of Lake Hallstatt, Sandling, Sarstein, Krippenstein and Ramsaugebirge. Three benches invite you to linger.

After this, continue left and after a few metres you will reach the Protzweg down via the village of Gschwandt to the Görbbrücke bridge. Follow the pavement next to the B 166 for a short distance before turning left into Obere Marktstraße. At the Schneiderwirt in Stambach, continue right towards Wiesen. Before the B145 subway, turn left uphill and follow the old Kirchenwegerl to the Stambach bridge. The Stambachgraben takes you along the Stambach stream. You are now in one of the most beautiful places on the sunny side. Finally, you return to the starting point in Lasern
