enjoyment by the river - Almspitz
Description: Due to storm damage, the active rest area in Bad Wimsbach-Neyhdarting with the hammocks has unfortunately been damaged and the path is difficult to pass. Together with the market town and the property owner, we are in the process of repairing the damage and restoring the rest area.
We ask for your understanding and increased caution!
Where the Alm flows into the Traun, the path towards the inner Almtal begins.
On the well-surfaced paths, the journey begins where the Almfluss flows into Traun, at Fischlham - Edt bei Lambach. The many Almwellen loungers invite you to take a break in particularly beautiful places.
At the Almeggbrücke bridge, you have the opportunity to make a detour to the "Time Out - Family & Leisure Park" , which is approx. 1.4 km from the trail.
From the Almeggbrücke bridge, you walk along the Alm to the mouth of the Laudach. There you have to walk along the Laudach a little way in the forest to the bridge (small parking lot next to it), cross the bridge and then immediately turn left again along the Laudach.
The hammock rest area is a wonderful place to relax and unwind. At the edge of the only conglomerate gorge on the Alm, you can also observe very clearly how the river has carved its way through the landscape over thousands of years.
Shortly before Vorchdorf, the path leads steeply uphill under the freeway bridge, where you then pass through a settlement, then another forest path, past the sports field and into the village center. The church tower is a welcome landmark here. A variety of cultural highlights, stores and places to stop for refreshments await you there.
The path leads across Schlossplatz and the Laudach bridge, then immediately left along the Laudach past the Kitzmantel factory. From there you can reach Vorchdorf train station in just 5 minutes on foot.
Cross a small bridge over the Laudach again and turn right to the rest area and children's playground.
Dear hikers, the area around the Almkraftwerk Mühltal power station is being redesigned to improve the river ecology (near-natural organism and fish migration). We ask for your understanding that you will have to take a temporary detour. The detour is signposted! You can find a map for this section under further information.

How to get to the Almtal (to Bad Wimsbach-Neydharting):
We recommend that you travel by public transport!
By train: to Wels station with IC trains on the Westbahn line (ÖBB and Westbahn) (line 101), then change to the regional trains in the direction of Attnang-Puchheim to Lambach station. Change to the "Vorchdorfer Bahn" from Stern & Hafferl (line 160) or from Gmunden with the Traunseetram Stern & Hafferl (line 161) via Vorchdorf Eggenberg, change to the Vorchdorfer Bahn to Bad Wimsbach-Neydharting station.
The train also runs more or less parallel to the Almuferweg to Vorchdorf station and can be used as support in between.
By bus:
OÖVV bus route 508 Lambach - Stadl-Paura - Bad Wimsbach-Neydharting - Roitham, bus stop Bad Wimsbach Markt. From there it takes about 1 hour to the starting point at Almspitz
OÖVV bus route 503 Lambach - Edt b. Lambach - Fischlham - Steinerkirchen/Tr. Bus stop Edt bei Lambach am Graben. Walking time approx. 5 minutes over the Traun and Almbrücke bridge
with the Salzkammergut Shuttle Service Route 80 from Bad Wimsbach station to Almspitz or Vorchdorf station

Bike & Hike, arrival by bike:
Coming from Wels or Linz on the R 4 Traunradweg or R6 Römerradweg, or from Gmunden R 4 Traunradweg or from Passau via Vöcklabruck and Schwanenstadt on the R 6 Römerradweg to Lambach, via the Traunkraftwerk Lambach and then to Bad Wimsbach-Neydharting. Likewise via the cycle connection from the R 11 Almtalradweg from Almsee via Pettenbach, briefly onto the R 13 Traunviertlerradweg to Einsiedlung and then via Vorchdorf to Bad Wimsbach-Neydharting. Either directly to the Almspitz or e.g. to the Almeggbrücke as an entry point.
By car:
Highway A1 Westautobahn Exit 207 exit Vorchdorf at the traffic circle - direction Lambach to Bad Wimsbach-Neydharting, approx. 7 km
Federal highway B1 to Lambach - to Stadl Paura, then in the direction of Vorchdorf to Bad Wimsbach-Neydharting
Parking: at Lambach train station (2.5 km) from the Almspitz or at Bad Wimsbach-Neydharting train station (1 km) from the entrance in the Almegg area.
