From the Grünau im Almtal train station, the path continues to the left, past the the partner company Romantikhotel Almtalhof.
The path runs parallel in the forest along Almseestraße to the next highlight, the Cumberland Wildlife Park
The Cumberland Wildlife Park is also a delight at the Almfluss partner business. A visit is worthwhile and should actually be included in the hiking programme. A round in the wildlife park (approx. 5 km) with many shortcut options. Then you can also make good use of the catering facilities in the wildlife park (only open to visitors). There is also a large adventure playground for children in the wildlife park.
Then continue along the path to the turn-off to Hetzau (access to the Ödseen lakes). From there, the trail leads back along the alpine pasture and through the forest to the Almsee lake.
Past the mouth of the Almsee, you walk along the eastern shore, past the Viscope, from where you can enjoy a fantastic and informative panoramic view, to the car park at the Seehaus. Continue a little further to the Echoplatzerl, above which you will find the hanging chairs where you can enjoy the view and the echo. The path is a little steep here and the gravel makes the ascent a little difficult!
Tip: A hike around the Almsee / length 6 km / duration 1.5 hours.
We recommend doing the hike during the week and travelling by public transport!

We recommend that you travel by public transport!
by train: from Wels station with the Almtalbahn (line 153) to Grünau im Almtal;
Numerous connections from Wels station to the main trains on the western railway line (line 101)
by bus: OÖVV bus line 533/534 Almsee - Grünau im Almtal - Gmunden
with the Salzkammergut Shuttle Service Route 60 from Grünau station to the Almsee GH Seehaus stop, call the taxi centre at least 1 hour in advance on 050-422 422 to order.
walking:
From the center or the train station of Grünau im Almtal you can comfortably walk along the Almuferweg "Genuss am Almfluss" via the Cumberland Wildpark to the lake Almsee!
by car:
Westautobahn A1: Vienna - Voralpenkreuz-A9 - exit Ried / Tr. - Voitsdorf - Pettenbach - Scharnstein - Grünau
Westautobahn A1: Munich - Salzburg - Regau - Gmunden - Scharnstein - Grünau
