Description: This path was designed in the steep Danube slopes in such a way that it could be partly run as a “railway system” and was buried in the terrain. The depth was around 2.5 m, the pitch bottom 1.5 m, so that the path was around 5 m wide at the upper edge of the bank. This had the advantage that the trails were hardly visible and so travellers, freight haulers (traders) and goods transports remained largely unseen and undetected by bandits and were also protected from wild animals, they also offered protection from falling and fallen trees. Trees lying across gullies could be crossed below after removing some branches. Route: Hofkirchen i.M. - Footway along Falkensteiner Straße Road or Ebenhocher Straße Road - Falkenweg municipal road -field or forest path (old road) - rest area on the left to the ALTER SALZREIB- entry point into the old historic salt trail - forest and field path to Leiten (former tollbooth) back to Hofkirchen i.M. - Marking 83
