As the first official mountain bike single trail in the Linz central region, the Hornet Trail was released on October 26, 2021, and after a test phase was ceremoniously opened on March 19, 2022. The 1.2-kilometer and approximately 200-deep MTB trail was created in several hundred hours of work by means of manual labor by the local mountain bike community.
The nature-oriented trail was implemented as a joint project by MTB Linz, landowner Niklas Salm-Reifferscheidt, Steyregg Forestry Department, Naturfreunde Linz & Steyregg and the Steyregg Municipality.
The Mountain Bike Initiative Linz (MTB-Linz) is responsible for maintaining the trails and mountain bike routes. You can also contact them with any questions, requests or problems. MTB-Linz can be reached at www.mtblinz.at. Current trail reports and closure notifications are also placed directly on the MTB-Linz homepage.
