GAISBERG - ROSSFELD - HINTERSEE
Mountains and lakes are the main destinations on this route; in between are routes with roads and paths that fulfil every requirement of ambitious motorcyclists.

Directly opposite the KTM Motohall, the signpost points us in the right direction: Salzburg, Mattsee - that's where we want to go. On the way there, we pass Pfaffstät, Abern, Jeging and Munderham and enjoy not only the winding route, but also the relatively low traffic volume and the rural atmosphere.
When we reach the village of Mattsee, we have the option of turning left and paying a visit to the "Ferdinand Porsche Erlebniswelten fahr(T)raum". However, the "MUSEUM TOUR" offers this option again in detail. So we cruise leisurely along the shores of Lake Obertrum to the village that gives it its name. There we turn left and head towards Seekirchen. We continue in a southerly direction to the ascent to the Gaisberg. There, not even the speed limit spoils the fun, as there are so many beautiful bends and wonderful views of Salzburg and the Salzach Valley.
These end at over 1000 metres above sea level and culminate in a fabulous panorama that leaves you amazed and in awe of the beauty: the impressive mountain range of the Austrian and Bavarian Alps, the southern Salzach Valley, the Mozart city of Salzburg and the Bavarian and Austrian Alpine foothills spread out before us! We can enjoy a tasty snack in one of the rustic and cosy inns.
With our strength thus restored, we roll relaxed over the south side of the Gaisberg towards the Wiestal reservoir and, despite the speed limit, enjoy the winding route towards Hallein. Here we cross the Salzach river and speed via Bad Dürrnberg into Bavaria, up to the highest panoramic road in Germany, the Roßfeld. The five euro "entrance fee" for the toll road is definitely worth it, because the bends and the views from this road make up for everything. As we pass the toll booth on the south-west side of the road, we have almost driven ourselves dizzy and a big grin spreads under our helmets!
We continue in a similar manner via Scharitzkehlstraße and Vorderbrand. From here it's back to the descent towards Berchtesgaden, which takes place on a narrow and winding road that requires concentration and riding skills. But then it's a relaxed ride to Königssee and a cosy stop at the Echostüberl. This popular excursion destination is located directly on the shore of the famous mountain lake and also close to the famous bobsleigh and toboggan run. We are glad that there is no wintry reason to enjoy ourselves there and prefer to stop off at the Echostüberl for a coffee.
Shortly afterwards, we're on the road again, hurtling westwards on the German Alpine Road. In Ramsau, a signpost leads us to Hintersee, where we are enthralled by the scenery and tempted to take a break in one of the cosy inns. But this doesn't work in this case, because the Alpine road is waiting again. We continue on it quickly and happily towards Unterjettenberg, orientate ourselves towards Bad Reichenhall and take the B20 to Piding.
Here we "disappear" onto smaller roads again and speed up the Högl and down the other side, pay a brief visit to the Höglwörth monastery and continue via Teisendorf and Schönram to Laufen. There we cross the Salzach again and thus change from Bavarian to Austrian territory. Oberndorf awaits us and with the Silent Night Chapel also has a major cultural highlight to offer.
Whether we accept it or not, the way back to Mattighofen is not worth mentioning from here. However, the last few metres offer more riding fun at its best and are also a treat for the eyes thanks to the rural diversity and beauty. Finally, back at the KTM Motohall, we are simply thrilled with today's tour!
