KOBERNAUSSER - HAUSRUCK - SCHLOSS ORT
Shortly after Mattighofen or Schalchen, the first real bends await me: on the way to Maria Schmolln, there are beautiful bends and a sign at the side of the road warning me to "SLOW DOWN" for the first time! And even though the road leads over the Schnellberg, I stick to the road traffic regulations and just take the bends "briskly" up the mountain. After Maria Schmolln, I take the roundabout in the direction of Sollach and after a few kilometres a strange structure catches my eye. The "Skiflyer" is a tower-like structure that allows daredevils to plunge into the depths secured by ropes like a ski jumper - definitely not for me!

I prefer to watch others take the plunge - and that's even better a few kilometres further on. Very close to Höhnhart is the Borbet Allianz Arena of ASVÖ SC Höhnhart, a really impressive ski jumping facility that you wouldn't really expect to find here. If you're lucky, you can watch the brave athletes training, as the facility is equipped with mattings for summer use. And if you're even luckier, the small café is open and curious bikers can treat themselves to an enjoyable break.
Refreshed and invigorated, the next set of bends can be tackled in a much more relaxed manner. And the rest of the route via Mettmach, Lohnsburg am Kobernaußerwald, Pramet and Eberschwang is an excellent way to "meander". Via Ampflwang and Vöcklabruck you reach Gmunden. There it is definitely worth driving through the town, heading for the Toskanapark car park and making your way to the Traunsee on foot. Once you have reached the shore, it is already picturesquely situated in front of you - the castle, which is famous not only because of the TV series "Schlosshotel Orth". Picturesquely situated on an island in the lake, it is connected to the mainland by a long wooden footbridge and once again offers a very pleasant reason for an extensive stop with its gastronomy.
A little later, a road sign in Altmünster points the way to the "Hochlecken ski lifts", and it is well worth following. Shortly after leaving the village, the road offers wonderful views back to Lake Traunsee and the all-dominant Traunstein on the other side of the lake. Generous bend radii guarantee fast, speedy progress and corresponding driving pleasure. This could be briefly interrupted with a short stop at the Taferlklaussee and the rustic Taferlklausstube of the same name. But it will certainly continue at the same level afterwards!
The first glimpse of it is at Unterfeichten: Lake Attersee appears in a deep blue colour, which we reach in Steinbach. As far as Weißenbach, the road follows the shore of the lake and offers fantastic views, while the Hotel Post in Weißenbach invites you to take a break in its shady beer garden with a fantastic view of the lake. Afterwards, there are plenty of bends again: along the outer Weißenbach, the road not only offers excellent tarmac, but also perfect riding fun! The B145 then leads to the famous spa town of Bad Ischl, where Emperor Franz Joseph I once spent the summer months. The "Kaiservilla" and the park of the same name are definitely worth a photo stop!
The next one worth seeing is a few kilometres further on: along the shores of Lake Wolfgangsee to Sankt Gilgen, where former German Chancellor Helmut Kohl spent his summer holidays for more than 30 years! It's just a stone's throw from here to the next lake and photo motif: the lakeside promenade in Mondsee on the lake of the same name offers something for the eye and, with several cafés and restaurants, also something for your physical well-being. And if you can still see lakes now, the next opportunity is just a few kilometres further on: the Irrsee with its small lakeside road offers both: great views and driving pleasure! This remains the case for the rest of the route to Mattighofen, so that today's ride will once again be a memorable one.
