We start at Gasthaus Gosausee, even from there you have a wonderful view of Lake Gosau and the surrounding mountain scenery. This is also where the Gosausee circular run starts once a year, which circles the front part of Lake Gosau for just over 4 km (but at 1000 m above sea level). We turn right and run along forest paths along the lakeshore to the far end of the front Gosausee. From here we walk increasingly through denser forest. However, this thins out in the meantime and we reach the Gosaulacke. The blue-green water reflects the high cliffs and, on fine days, the sunshine. The path continues straight ahead on forest roads, but now there are more climbs. The last ascent before we leave the forest is the steepest. But we are rewarded after about 200 m with an incredible backdrop. With renewed euphoria, we walk to the Holzmeisteralm at the far end of the lake for refreshments. The fresh Kaiserschmarrn pancakes are particularly popular here.
After refreshments, we walk back the same way. In the alpine pasture area after the Gosaulacke, the path now branches off and this time we follow the other shore. We walk on, with a short practice via ferrata below us on the bank, before reaching the Gosausee road, which leads us directly back to the starting point.
