Singing Weeks in Gosau

The annual ecumenical church music/study weeks in Gosau takes place to the 65rd time this year.

For more than 60 years, the Salzkammergut with its lakes, mountain meadows and small picturesque settlements has provided the charming backdrop for a special church music project: At the foot of the imposing Dachstein massif, in the lovely Gosau Valley, musical people from Germany and many other European countries meet at the invitation of the Regional Association for Church Music in the Evangelical Church of the Palatinate for the Gosau Singing Weeks (Ecumenical Church Music Study Weeks) during the Summer Season. The artistic director will be Jochen Steuerwald, church music director in Speyer.

During the day, the programme will be filled with hiking, sightseeing and relaxation; the evening will be reserved for intensive rehearsals. The crowning of the fourteen-day stay is three concerts in which the participants present the musical programme they have developed together with renowned soloists.

To ensure that the musical holiday is a real family undertaking, even the little ones are not left out: A children's choir project has been integrated for many years. Courses in organ playing and choir conducting round off the programme.

The Gosau Singing Weeks (Ecumenical Church Music Study Weeks) are taking place for the 65th time this year. This time, the singers will be together from Monday, 14 July to Monday, 28 July 2025 

This year's programme includes compositions by Johann Sebastian Bach.
The concerts will take place at 8 pm on Friday, 25 July 2025 in the parish church of St. Nikolaus Bad Ischl, on Saturday, 26 July 2025 in the parish church of St. Nikolaus Ischl. July 2025 in the parish church of St. Paul Bad Aussee and on Sunday, 27 July 2025 in the Protestant church in Gosau.

The two Sunday services on 20 and 27 July in the parish church of St. Paul Bad Aussee.July in Gosau will be co-organised by the Singwochenchor. A selection of the fruits of the children's singing will also be performed on Sunday, 27 July in the service. Vera Steuerwald, vocal pedagogue and youth music teacher, who has been a highly successful children's choir director for many years, will again be responsible for this work.

The artistic direction and the choir conducting seminar are in the hands of Jochen Steuerwald, director of music at the regional church. Assistance in the rehearsals, the direction and rehearsal of the church service music and the organ seminar will again be provided by District Cantor Tobias Markutzik, Kusel. The organisation is in the hands of Rebecca Sieron and treasurer Rupertus Woehl.
