New year's celebrations in the Koppenbrueller cave

The Hallstatt-Obertraun Cave Club will once again celebrate the traditional New Year celebration in the Koppenbrüller Cave in Obertraun on 2 January.

A guided tour in English will take place at 6:30 p.m..

Unique New Year celebration

Since 1980 this event has developed into a highlight of the tourist offer in the Inner Salzkammergut. It takes place every year on 2 January.

You will be guided by torches from the parking place Koppenrast through the wonderful winter landscape to the cave entrance. Once there, you will be greeted by a brass band from Obertraun and the Bengali glow in the cave entrance. 

Guided tours through the Koppenbrueller Cave

Interested visitors now have the opportunity to take part in expert guided tours of the Koppenbrueller Cave. Inside the cave, the cave areas "Simonyhalle", "Hannakluft" and "Lahnerhalle", as well as the "Klingfall" and various stalactite formations, also known from the summer show cave operation, are impressive. A stand with detailed speleological information is of course available on site.

The musical part, which has been performed by a group of local didgeridoo players in the "Krokodilhalle" in recent years, will once again enrich the programme this year. 

The hosts from Obertraun also invite you to grill potatoes at the open campfire or to enjoy hot drinks, which can lift the spirits in the sometimes arctic temperatures as well as shorten occasional waiting times.
