Cancelled: Kaiser Festival St. Gilgen

Every year on August 18 the "Kaiser Festival" is taking place in St. Gilgen in honour of Emperor Franz Josef. He spent many summers in the Salzkammergut and visited Lake Wolfgangsee also many times.

Emperor Franz Josef was vitally important for the development of the tourism in Salzkammergut. He spent year in and year out his holiday in Bad Ischl. He visited also always lake Wolfgangsee - mountain Schafberg was a favoured destination for the emperor.

On Wednesday, July 12, 1893 he was greeted feastful in St. Gilgen. The woman poet and holiday-maker Marie von Ebner-Eschenbach wrote this special event into her diary. The Emperor Feast is celebrated annually very festive in St. Gilgen!

Program

• 6.30 p.m. | Welcome of „Emperor Franz Josef I“ and delegation by Veteran Organisations at the boat station in St. Gilgen with "Rainermusik" from Salzburg.
• Afterwards follows a festive procession through the town to Mozartplatz.
• 7 p.m. | Concert by "Rainermusik" from Salzburg at Mozartplatz.

The paddle steamer "Emperor Franz Josef" brings the passengers from Strobl and St. Wolfgang to St. Gilgen:
Departure in Strobl at 5.40 p.m., in St. Wolfgang at 5.55 p.m.

Attention! No return to Strobl and St. Wolfgang possible!
