The concert will include unusual arrangements of works by Anton Bruckner. An evening that will focus on the love of music, the courage to be unconventional and the interplay between the
musician friends.

The voice fach "countertenor" is usually associated with heroic roles in operas by Handel, with Bach passions, indeed with baroque music in historically informed performance practice in general, much less with lieder or folk music. In rock and pop music, men often sing in this high register, but with
a completely different vocal technique. Alois Mühlbacher, who has already caused a sensation as a soloist with the St. Florian Boys' Choir with his boundary-crossing recordings, also demonstrates as an adult countertenor that he has something extraordinary to offer in all styles. He is an internationally sought-after soloist in the field of baroque music in opera and concert, but also gives recitals with romantic and modern repertoire.
As a child, he gave concerts with outstanding folk music ensembles and thus learnt about the tradition of "real" folk music at first hand.
Since its foundation in 1997, the Upper Austrian "Spring String Quartet" has been one of the leading classical crossover string quartets in Europe, shattering all the usual "violin music" clichés and redefining the artistic expressive possibilities of the classical string quartet.
Three years ago, the ensemble produced a highly acclaimed music video together with Alois Mühlbacher: the Queen song "Don't stop me now" (with an ingenious arrangement of Mozart music by Georg Wiesinger).
This success led to an artistic friendship that has developed into a love of the extraordinary and has now resulted in three joint concert programmes under the title "Counter & Strings".
