Free hut tours on open house days!

For over 300 years, the Bärenriedlau hut has stood at an altitude of 1,437 m in the Sengsengebirge. It provided accommodation for cattle herders and hunters, and later even for the heir to the throne, Archduke Franz Ferdinand, and his hunting party. The impressive historical furnishings and pencil graffiti on the walls and doors still remind us of this time. In 2014, the hut was thoroughly renovated.

During the open house days, the hut can be visited. It is particularly interesting to see how the once noble hunting grounds around the Bärenriedlau have developed into a wildlife sanctuary in the national park.

Opening hours: The hut is open to the public from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m
