The Kalkalpen National Park is the most significant forest national park in the Alps. With its designation as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, it is part of a Europe-wide project to protect the last remaining primeval beech forests. These ancient forests, with their diversity, are a treasure of nature. Here, primeval forest species like the Alpine longhorn beetle and the white-backed woodpecker find a home.Management: National Park Rangers and employees of ÖBF National Park Operation Kalkalpen; National Park Ranger Rudi Grall, Ranger Peter Übleis and Heimo Emmerstorfer, Robert Pröll, Claus Lackerbauer
