Festival 4020

Stadtklänge  - first of all, that means 'back to the roots' or, even better, 'forward to the roots'! Because if you take the title "Festival 4020" at its word, you might end up on the Froschberg or in the Kaplanhofviertel - but in any case in Linz!

And the question arises: What does it sound like in this city? Or thinking even bigger: How does a city sound? Festival 4020, programmed by the Brucknerhaus Linz, makes it audible and traces contemporary music from 1 to 4 May 2025 in places where, in the words of Rainer Maria Rilke, "according to silent laws / alleyways interlace with alleyways / and squares join squares".

Sometimes abstract, architectural, sometimes immediate, the beat on the pulse of time. Sometimes rousingly danceable, sometimes filigree and virtuoso. Sometimes grand and existential, sometimes light, playful and humorous. Because the city may know postcodes, but the sound of the city knows no boundaries!
