Judith Huemer - Ausstellung

Artistic positions on the Holy Family.

The West Tower Chapel in St Mary's Cathedral will become an art space in the anniversary year 2024. Monika Pichler, Esther Strauß, Katharina Struber, Elisabeth Altenburg, Elke Punkt Fleisch, Sophie Reyer, Judith Huemer and Bernadette Huber will - based on their artistic practice - critically reflect on the theme of the Holy Family and open up new levels of meaning for the viewer.
 
In space-related works, different conceptual approaches and media, the artists reflect on current social developments and challenges in dialogue with the Mariendom and its visual language.
How can community be lived? What do birth and mortality mean, what significance does remembrance have? How can we speak of motherhood, fatherhood and siblinghood today? What images, symbols and practices characterise our self-image of being part of a family?
