Slow train ride to the whetstone quarries

A cosy stop-off at one of the huts where you can sample local delicacies or take advantage of the numerous hiking opportunities .

Ideal for a family excursion is a ride on the slow train or Almtaxi. 

Regular journeys:

The slow train or an alpine taxi travels along forest roads through the beautiful landscape at around 1,400 metres above sea level. The starting point for a hike is the Schleifsteinhütten. From there, the route leads through the wildly romantic Löckenmoos. The unique Deckenhochmoor with its small moorland lake is a real experience for young and old. On a tour of the moor, with its impressive views of the surrounding mountains, you can learn and experience all kinds of things. The flora and fauna found in this area is unique. Along the marked path through the "Latschen" (mountain pines), past the small Löckensee, you head towards the Gosaukamm ridge. Along the way you will always find boards with interesting and interesting details about the local flora and fauna.

From May to October every Tuesday (with guided tour possible) and Sunday (only ascent, descent) :
