The Australian conductor Nicholas Carter presents a programme with an English flavour. Joseph Haydn spends four years in London and writes his last symphony there, the London Symphony. With his 104th symphony, he crowns this genre to this day. The conductor places 2 works by English composers alongside him. The 4 interludes from the opera Peter Grimes by Benjamin Britten and a fantasy by Ralph Vaughan Williams create unique sound colours. Nicholas Carter himself is being touted as the possible next chief conductor of the Bruckner Orchestra Linz.
