After travelling through the alpine region of Austria, Ernst Krenek wrote the lyrics and music for the 20 songs of the "Reisebuch" in a true creative frenzy within 20 days. His song cycle, which was very much inspired by Franz Schubert, soon became one of the composer's best-known works.
Krenek wrote two organ concertos and solo works for Martin Haselböck, and was also his guest at Lake Attersee on several occasions.
