International Brucknerfest Linz 2025. The ORF Vienna Radio Symphony Orchestra and saxophonist Asya Fateyeva present works by Erich Wolfgang Korngold, Péter Eötvös and John Williams under the direction of Mei-Ann Chen.

Works by Erich Wolfgang Korngold, Péter Eötvös and John Williams in one concert? The ORF Vienna Radio Symphony Orchestra under the direction of conductor Mei-Ann Chen shows what is ear-opening and eye-opening about this combination. In the first half, two concertos for saxophone and orchestra, played by shooting star Asya Fateyeva, will be brought together: Eötvös' work Focus from 2021, for which the composer was inspired by the technology of the film camera to create a musical "sound camera", will enter into a dialogue with Williams' Escapades, a concert version of his film score for Steven Spielberg's Catch Me If You Can.

The second half is all about John Williams, with a selection of his film scores from Indiana Jones to Jaws and Schindler's List to Star Wars and at the same time builds a bridge to the beginning of the concert, where the suite from the 1942 film Kings Row makes audible just how great Korngold's influence on Williams and other film composers is to this day.
