International Brucknerfest Linz 2025. The pen is the sister of the brush. Georg Nigl and Olga Pashchenko perform songs by Franz Schubert, Robert Schumann and composers of the Viennese School. In between, Birgit Minichmayr reads texts and diary entries by the painter Maria Lassnig.
Maria Lassnig, who explored and defined the concept of 'body awareness' in her oeuvre, from painting and graphic art to film, is undoubtedly one of the most important and visionary artists of our time: "It is certain that I do not paint and draw the 'object' body - but I paint sensations of the body."Three outstanding artists have come together to explore the boundaries between sound and visual, the representational and the spiritual: Georg Nigl and Olga Pashchenko - who will alternate between playing on a modern grand piano and a historical fortepiano - will perform 'pictorial' songs by Franz Schubert, Robert Schumann and composers of the Viennese School. Between the pieces, Birgit Minichmayr - who plays Lassnig in Anja Salomonowitz's award-winning film Sleeping with a Tiger, released in 2024 - will read texts and diary entries in which the painter described and reflected on her art and her life.
