Under the direction of Markus Stumpner, the St. Florian Boys' Choir interweaves music from films such as The Children of Monsieur Mathieu and The Lord of the Rings with works by Benjamin Britten, Paul Simon and many others.
"I always knew that one day my music would be performed. My name is Clement Mathieu, I'm a musician. I compose for them every night."The "them" refers to the singers of a boys' choir at the Fond de l'Étang boarding school in the film The Children of Monsieur Mathieu (Les Choristes), perhaps the best-known example of how classical music has been and continues to be staged on the big screen in the form of choral literature. In addition to the music, the social, communal and meaningful aspect of choral singing is usually at the centre of the action in these films.
Under the direction of Markus Stumpner and accompanied by harp, organ and piano, the St. Florianer Sängerknaben sing this diverse repertoire, interweaving original film music from films such as The Children of Monsieur Mathieu, The Choir: Voices of the Heart or The Lord of the Rings with Benjamin Britten's A Ceremony of Carols as well as pieces by Paul Simon, Leonard Cohen and Karl Jenkins.
