International Brucknerfest Linz 2025. The Glorious Twelve, probably the most famous string ensemble in the world, performs Anton Bruckner's "Locus iste" as well as works by Heitor Villa-Lobos, Gabriel Fauré and George Gershwin, film music and rousing tango compositions.
They are probably the most famous string ensemble in the world: for more than 50 years, the 12 cellists of the Berliner Philharmoniker have been delighting audiences worldwide with their unique sound and equally unique repertoire, which largely consists of pieces composed and arranged especially for them. The twelve musicians can only give concerts when the Berliner Philharmoniker's busy schedule allows. Now, for the first time in 15 years, they can be heard at the Brucknerhaus again, presenting a programme specially tailored to this year's Brucknerfest motto: In addition to a 'birthday greeting' in the form of Anton Bruckner's "Locus iste", the programme includes works by Heitor Villa-Lobos, Gabriel Fauré and George Gershwin, Arvo Pärt's famous Fratres, film music from John Williams' Schindler's List and Ennio Morricone's Spiel mir das Lied vom Tod as well as rousing tango compositions from the pen of Astor Piazzolla.Untere Donaulände 7, 4010 Linz
