Austria Backyard Ultra - Ternberg TRAIL 2025

The mode of Backyard Ultra is quite simple.

At the start of each hour, the runners begin a 6.706 km (=4.167 miles) course with 351 m of elevation gain. You have exactly one hour to complete the loop. Anyone who does not finish the loop in time and is not back at the start is out!

No late starts! Quite easy! ;-)
The event continues until only one runner remains on the course. => open end
The race is conducted according to the official Backyard Ultra regulations of the American original.

09:00 AM: START Austria Backyard Ultra Ternberg TRAIL

Award ceremony will not take place for the Backyard Ultra. Prize presentation and handing over of the DNF medal will occur immediately after the DNF of the runner.

DNF of runners: If you feel more drawn to the gastro area instead of the start line, you must independently unregister with the organization, return your timing chip, and you will receive your personal DNF medal.

• Food and drinks during the run (water, isotonic drinks, cola, coffee, soup, tomatoes, cake, fruit, salt, peanuts, pretzel sticks/brezel, spreadable bread, chips, and much more). Subject to change. No guarantee that the complete offer will be available throughout the entire event. For the 24h/100 miles runners, scrambled eggs will be served for breakfast.

• The route is adequately marked and secured by route marshals.

• The route mostly leads over single trails, forest paths, and partly technical trail sections. No exposed passages. Short sections of asphalt.

• In the start/finish area, participants have space for chairs, coolers, sleeping bags, etc. First come – First serve! 

• Sanitary facilities are available near the start/finish area.

• There is a refreshment station in the start/finish area. There are no supply stations along the route.

• The forest/mountain is a recreational area and not a trash dump. We move in nature and treat the animals with respect. Inappropriate behavior in nature (especially littering) will result in immediate disqualification.

• The run takes place at your own risk and responsibility on an unblocked or unsupervised route. The road traffic regulations must be obeyed on roads, and traffic must be observed. 

• Especially on the trail sections, there is an increased risk of accidents. We recommend appropriate footing and trail experience of the participant. 
   

Participants are responsible for accidents or injuries of any kind and must ensure adequate insurance themselves.
The landowner and the organizer are not liable for this.

Start/Finish Area:
For breaks, the event hall is available to all participants.
You can spread out mats, chairs, sleeping bags, blankets, etc., and use the breaks between the yards to relax.
