The author, who lives in Vienna and has Japanese roots, sets her novel in Japan.

Suzu, in her mid-twenties, single, lives a secluded life in a large Japanese city. After working in various jobs, she accepts a position as a corpse cleaner. This phenomenon of people dying alone in their homes, which is common in Japan, even has its own term ‘Kodokusha’. During her work, Suzu not only learns to love herself, but also the people around her. Despite everything, the author manages to convey a positive message of harmony and love for people.

Flasar Milena gives us a very interesting insight into Japanese culture. Due to social change, this topic is also very topical in our country, with loneliness leading to ever greater problems, especially in large cities.
