Ein Konzert für eine Prinzessin

Princess Anne, daughter of King George 2nd of Great Britain and later wife of Willem 4th of Orange, was an extremely artistic princess. As a child, she travelled from Hanover to London, where she received harpsichord lessons from G. F. Handel for 11 years. After her marriage, she went to The Hague, where J. M. Leclair was one of the court musicians. Both musical personalities dedicated works to the princess and described her as artistically minded with extremely fine musical taste. The programme features sonatas and suites by these composers at the transition from the late Baroque to the galant style, as they might have been performed at Princess Anne's court.
