Exhibition: Esther Stocker/Flora Miranda in the stables of the Kaiservilla

The exhibition by Esther Stocker and Flora Miranda can be admired in the stables of the Kaiservilla from 18 April to 27 April.

The first thing that strikes you when you look at Esther Stocker's paintings is the change in the relationship to perception. The relationship between perception and surface is cancelled and changed. The eye is transported into the stillness of abstract geometry and black and white. The space envelops the viewer, challenges him and plays with his expectations. According to Gestalt psychology, the subject grasps the images by filling in the gaps in them and constructing a fullness where there is none. The eye sees what it is used to seeing. Esther Stocker's works insist on this anticipatory character of perception, on this anticipation of the image and attempt not to reinforce it, but to break it.
(...) A gravitation is present, but at the same time something escapes it. Esther Stocker's works seem not so much to say that the work of art has its origin in disorder, but rather to show how it is possible to find a short circuit in the attraction of order, an energy that on the one hand overcomes order and on the other gives it movement. 

Flora Miranda is an Austrian fashion designer and visual artist based in Antwerp.
  "My work thematises the numerical self, questions the systems of the virtual world and portrays the digital generation."
 Miranda develops her own software and experiments with technologies such as 3D scanning, 3D printing, laser cutting, machine learning and generative design, rethinking the role of the fashion designer.
 After completing her master's degree in fashion design at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Antwerp in 2014, she worked freelance for Iris Van Herpen.
 Since 2018, she has continuously created the ballet costumes for the Ballet Of Difference at Schauspiel Köln, as well as other costume commissions such as for Caroline Peters, Arco Renz and Opera Ballet Vlaanderen. Flora Miranda's works are exhibited in the international art world (HEK Basel, MAK Vienna, Z33 Hasselt), pieces are collected by museums (MKG Hamburg, MAK Vienna).
She has received various awards for her creations (Good Design Award).
