Bad Ischl will be the venue for a unique art festival in 2025: The YOUNG ART 2025 competition on 27 September 2025 offers young visual artists aged 16 to 26 from the fields of painting, drawing and graphics an outstanding platform to present their works.
The jury includes the Austrian media artist and professor at the University of Art and Design Linz Christa Sommerer, the art historian, photographer and managing director of OÖ Landes-Kultur GmbH Alfred Weidinger, and the Bad Ischl concrete artist Stephan Unterberger.
The festival not only strengthens cultural networking between the participating cities, but also underlines Bad Ischl's role as a vibrant centre of the art scene in the Salzkammergut region.
Three winners will be chosen from the almost 50 works by the selected artists. All 50 works will be exhibited in the Trinkhalle Bad Ischl for a fortnight. In addition, all applicants from the Salzkammergut - regardless of whether they are selected - will have the opportunity to present their works for a fortnight in autumn 2025 in the gallery DIE GALERIE of the Kunstforum Salzkammergut in Gmunden.
Mayor Ines Schiller is delighted about this project, which she initiated together with Bad Ischl artist Stephan Unterberger.
Schiller: "YOUNG ART 2025 promotes young talent, builds artistic bridges between regions and countries and further strengthens Bad Ischl as a cultural metropolis. Applications are now open - we look forward to inspiring works."
